W e l c o m e - September 2023
With completing my essay on Spirituality and Jazz (CIaudius Verlag Munich), I also embark on a new research journey on the ritual and spiritual potential of jazz. Discussing with musicians and researchers where jazz is heading in the next decades to come I feel the vision of the UNESCO will become more and more important:
UNESCO believes in the power of Jazz as a force for peace, dialogue and mutual understanding. It is therefore important to constantly raise the awareness of the virtues of jazz as an educational tool, and a force for empathy, dialogue and enhanced cooperation among people... also for the contribution it can make to building more inclusive societies.
started with a tour with EVA KRUSE´s "On the Mo" and it will be a year full of new impressions and challenges. I am working on three books at the moment to be published throughout the year, the CD with Arne Jansen and Anders Jormin is ready to be released and new composition projects are also on the horizon. I am also glad to perform with many new musicians - as it stands now in Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Brazil and possibly more places. Sign up for my newsletter if you are interested in more details about all ongoing work.
This year brings new music - compositions about butterflies and the start of the "Hymns and Rites 2024" project which I am very excited about. www.hymnsandrites2024.org
And there is war in Europe . Music is and will be more than ever needed as one of the forces to create peace in hearts and souls - for reconciliation and beyond borders.
In my concerts with my Ensemble TAIBITA and the most recent CD-recording, "Songful" with Arne Jansen and Anders Jormin we witnessed in our concerts power of music to touch people´s hearts with songs from four continents and different cultural traditions.
started with a CD recording with the ATHESINUS CONSORT BERLIN for Easter 2021! I look very forward to work further with this wonderful ensemble. We also recorded a little suite of songs in the fall of 2021 for the great singer-song writer Gerhard Schöne.
With Daniel Stickan I released a CD literally "close to home" with intimate interpretations of North-German folk songs. See more at wavesmusic.de
2020 saw me busy with writing - composing, writing about music and thinking about, how to provide a constructive input during a year where so much of "normal artistic activity" was impossible I was glad to host at least a live concerts series in Berlin: "On Freedom".
It was also possible to perform a suite of new music - "Lass leuchten uns dein göttlich Licht" which was recorded at castle church Wittenberg and released in December 2020. Here is some feedback from listeners...
